The Company was formed in 1992 by James Maxey, a Certified Construction Specifier (CCS), to prepare construction Specifications for Architects and Engineers.  Our goal at Associated Spec Consultants is to combine our experiences and become our client’s primary technical resource for construction materials, methods, and applications.

In 2014, Jim transferred the company’s day to day operations and responsibilities to his son Todd Maxey who started writing Specifications for Jim in 2004.  Since the transfer of the company, Jim works on a semi-retired basis overseeing quality control of the Specifications as well as writing Specifications for multiple projects daily.  Todd is a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), with diverse backgrounds in construction, specifications, and building inspections.

In addition to Todd and Jim, our staff includes full-time specifiers, part-time specifiers, and administrative personnel that allow us to meet the most demanding schedules.  Our Spec Writers come with extensive experience in building renovations, ground up construction, building inspections, and years of Specifications writing.
